The starting position.

Gul Bara is played on the same board and from the same position as Fevga: fifteen checkers per player on the head point. The difference shows with the very first roll, because there is no head rule.

Step by step

  1. All fifteen checkers on point 24 — the head, where every move begins.

The opponent's head lies on the other half of the board, both run in the same direction, and nothing is hit. What separates Gul Bara from Fevga is not in the setup: any checker may leave the head straight away, and a double is played four times, then the next number four times, and so on up to six.
